One of my favorite memories as a child was making homemade doughnuts with my dad. Now I make them with my kids and over the years we have perfected the recipe. This past weekend while visiting my parents, my dad only had Grands Flaky Biscuits to use for the doughnuts, which we had never used before. They turned out AH-MAZING!!!!! It's what we've been missing all along!
Ingredients:
Grands Flaky Biscuits -- This is the key ingredient! Make sure you get the flaky kind
Canola Oil
Powdered Sugar
Milk
1 stick of butter
Cinnamon + Sugar
For the topping we usually do a mixture of the cinnamon and sugar doughnuts and iced doughnuts because my kids love both. I mix both of my toppings first and set those aside.
For the icing:
Powdered Sugar with a couple of tablespoons of milk (mix until desired thickness)
For cinnamon + sugar coating:
Melt 1 stick of butter in a bowl + combine cinnamon and sugar in a separate bowl
Next, will heat up the canola oil on medium heat until it's really hot. I usually pour in enough canola oil so it's about 2 inches thick in my pan.
To test the oil throw in 1 doughnut first and let it cook until it's ready so you know the oil is nice and hot.
Pour yourself a glass of sparkling wine (or milk) and start popping those fresh doughnuts in your mouth! They are so tasty, you won't be able to stop!
