To the Mom with a baby that doesn't sleep,
You are not alone.
Some babies just don't like to sleep.
Why?
I wish I knew.
You sit back quietly while friends and family offer their tips and advice...
but you know you've tried everything.
Bedtime routine?
Tried it.
Sleep training?
Attempted it.
Standing on one leg, hopping back and forth, sprinkling fairy dust in the crib?
Doesn't work.
Nothing works.
First and foremost...
there is nothing wrong with you.
There is nothing wrong with your baby.
You are a good Mom and you are doing everything right.
I know these napless days and sleepless nights are hard.
How are we functioning?
How am I typing this right now?
I don't even know.
But we do it. We carry on like we always will.
Because we are Moms and that is just what we do.
We have superpowers.
I don't have advice on how to get your baby to sleep better.
I wish I did, I really do.
But I don't.
So my only advice is to keep your wine cooler stocked...
or your candy dish...
or whatever it is that gets you through the day.
Drink that wine and eat that candy,
you more than deserve it.
These days won't last forever.
They will eventually sleep through the night.
The naps might not ever get better but there will be a day that they won't need to nap anymore.
The nap battle will be but a distant memory.
Someday you will look back on this time and you might even miss it.
(Not the battles...but maybe the middle of the night snuggles?)
Just remember,
the days are long but the years are short and this too shall pass.
Hang in there, Momma!
